The Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), an entity of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, has welcomed the appointment of a new board of directors by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Professor Blade Nzimande.

The appointment of the new board, which will lead the agency for the next four years, marks a significant milestone in strengthening the organisation’s governance and strategic leadership.

The TIA states that the newly appointed board members bring a wealth of leadership experience and expertise spanning science and technology, industry development, finance, academia and entrepreneurship that are vital to South Africa’s innovation ecosystem.

The members of the new TIA board are Loyiso Tyira (chairperson), Vukile Hlongwa, Lwazi Koyana, Kholiwe Makhohliso, Bojane Segooa, Dr Renee Thompson and Thulani Tshabalala.

The TIA says the board’s collective knowledge will ensure the entity remains agile, impactful and future fit in fulfilling its mandate to stimulate and intensify technological innovation that drives inclusive economic growth and improves the quality of life for all South Africans.
